Haryana names 17 fake technical institutes

The Directorate of Technical Education, Haryana, has detected at least 17 technical institutions functioning without the mandatory approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a statutory body of the Union Government for proper planning and coordinated development of technical education.

“These bogus universities, colleges and institutions have been duping the students by charging hefty fees and issuing bogus degrees or certificates,’’ senior officers told The Hindu. “We have issued a revised list of such institutions conducting unapproved technical programmes and warned the students, their parents and the general public not to take admission in them,’’ they added. Those seeking admission to any of the technical institutions must first check the status of approval on the websites www.aicte-india.org and www.techeduhry.nic.in.

The 17 institutions have been identified as Algol School of Management & Technology, Gurgaon; Ansal Institute of Technology, Sector-55, Gurgaon; College of Hospitality & Tourism, Gurgaon; G.D. Geonka World Institute-G.D. Geonka Education City Sohna-Gurgaon Road; ICAII Institute of Management & Technology, Mohali Campus Phase-7 and SCO 22, Sector-33 D, Chandigarh; ICFAI Business School, Gurgaon; ICFAI National College 308, Qutub Plaza, Phase-I, Gurgaon; IILM for Higher Education, Gurgaon; IIPS Panipat; Institute for International Management & Technology, Gurgaon; Institute of Apparel Management, Gurgaon; International Institute of Hotel Management, Gurgaon; NIAM Centre for Analytics & Research Excellence, Faridabad; Skyline Business School, Gurgaon; Shree Balaji Institute of Computer, Panchkula; International Institute of Management, DLF Phase-2, Faridabad; and Fazlani Altius Business School, DLF Cyber City, Gurgaon.
